With the blazing summer temperatures and all of the changes that COVID has brought to our lives, it may be hard to envision celebrating the joy of Christmas at this time of year. But we thought a little Christmas-inspired joy and whimsy might be the perfect invitation for you to make some fun memories with your family!

Each Monday in July we will be sharing a Christmas in July Family Night idea right here on our blog. We hope you’ll join us in the fun! Each Family Night will contain the following prompts: Something to read, something to ask, something to make, and something to do. They will be simple enough to do with items you already have at home. Let’s begin!

To read: Matthew 1:23- She will give birth to a son. And he will be called Immanuel.” The name Immanuel means “God with us.”

To ask: What does “God with us” mean? How does knowing God is with us help us face hard or uncertain times?

To make: As a family, make a list of all of the situations you might face when you need to remember that God is with you. (Example: first day of school, a hard day at work, when a sibling is annoying you, etc…) After you have made the list take a marker and write GOD WITH US over the list. Keep the list where you can see it and add to it as needed.

To do: Think of someone in your life who would be encouraged by remembering that God is with them. Together, bake them a batch of your favorite Christmas cookies and deliver them with a handwritten note of encouragement.
